Australian National Show and Shine

Last weekend the 2014 Australian National Show & Shine was held along the picturesque banks of the Seven Creeks Park in Euroa, approximately 2 hours drive north of Melbourne.

Each year the event becomes more successful, with over 10,000 people visiting the country town to attend the vintage, veteran, classic and special interest car and bike show. More than 1500 vehicles participated, everything from a classic Series 1 Corvette to a highly potent 2012 Shelby GT750. In addition to being rare (One of only 4 in Australia) the highly modified Shelby is powered by a supercharged 5.8L, capable of 750 bhp or 559 kw @6000 rpm!

Another impressively modified vehicle was an lovely metallic Sage Green Austin Healey 3000 MkII. Outwardly there’s nothing to give away the fact that it’s been modified, but inside the engine bay now lurks a GMH 5.7 Gen III engine. Given that the Healey weighs practically nothing, I can only imagine what its power to weight ratio is!

Also present at the show was a 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe in superb condition – complete with dealer delivery stickers in the engine bay. Other cars which caught my eye included a beautiful Ferrari 308 GTB (The first time I’ve ever seen one in silver), and a F2 Jack Brabham racing car.
